Donate to the Friends to support the Library
Donations from individuals, community organizations and businesses are essential to maintain high quality collections and programming. Gifts can be made in honor or memory of someone special, or just as a way to show your appreciation of the library.
The Friends of the West Branch Public Library was formed to accept donations on behalf of library. The Friends is a non-profit, IRS designated 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Donations supplement funding from the City of West Branch, Cedar County, and the State of Iowa.
The annual Summer Reading Program for kids and adults is funded entirely through private donations. Donations are also used to purchase materials (books, DVDs, periodicals, etc.), computers, and “creature comforts” such as cozy chairs, toys for the children’s area, and outdoor plantings. In addition, donations can be designated for long-range infrastructural improvements.
Questions about donations may be directed to Jennie Embree, President of the Friends through this online form or by phone at (319)643-4138, or Nick Shimmin, Director of the library through this form or by phone at or (319)643-2633.
